What is 'The Box District'?
The Box District area is the North side of the HWY 64/412 from the west curb line of Garfield Avenue to the east curb line of Lincoln Avenue, extending North to the adjacent properties north of Broadway between Garfield Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. Essentially the entirety of downtown Sand Springs. This is to honor Montie Box and his contributions to the City of Sand Springs spanning multiple decades.
Montie R. Box
Montie R. Box, otherwise known as ‘Mr. Sand Springs’, has been a part of the Sand Springs community for more than 90 years. He has served Sand Springs in countless ways, along with serving our country through the U.S. Naval Reserve and U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Box is known for working with numerous community organizations and groups like Sand Springs Rotary, Sand Springs American Legion, United Methodist Church, Sand Springs Chamber of Commerce, and many more. Along with promoting Sand Springs regionally through Tulsa County Fair Trust Authority, Tulsa Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, etc., Box has continuously shown his genuine commitment and support to Sand Springs.
