What is Herbal Affair?
Herbal Affair is an annual festival that takes place in downtown Sand Springs, OK on the third Saturday of April. Rain or shine vendors from all over the country setup their booths and sell their homegrown plants or herbs, spices, handcrafted art and specialty foods. Live entertainment from local groups, announcement of the Sand Springs Hometown Hero, international and American cuisine food trucks, and so much more gather to take place at this annual event. It's known throughout Oklahoma and surrounding regions as one of the best Herb Fests. Mark you calendar for the third Saturday in April!
How it began...
In 1989 a local gardening group in Sand Springs decided to host a small gathering to sell their plants and produce. The entire community of Sand Springs came out to support and purchase the plants. After a little growth and a few more years, the once small ladies gardening club decided to expand into a large event hosting all types of herbs, plants, foods, and crafts. Since then, the City of Sand Springs has joined to help with the ever-growing size of Herbal Affair.
Many mark the third Saturday in April down on their calendars now and make plans to spend their day in Sand Springs. Herbal Affair brings in around 25,000-30,000 visitors and locals. More than 130 vendors will bring herbs, perennials, native and heirlooms plants, along with herbal products, gardening supplies and folk art to the heart of Sand Springs giving visitors a taste of spring fever. Also, included are delicious food vendors who serve up Amish, Greek, BBQ, Mediterranean, Filipino, along with plenty of other American cuisine.
